Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced on February 4 that it will fully remodel the large SUV “Pathfinder” and start selling it in the North American market as a 2022 model from this summer 2021.
In addition to the characteristic high durability, the new Pathfinder has improved comfort, state-of-the-art connected technology, and safety performance. The lineup includes 2WD and 4WD, and 4 grades of “S”, “SV”, “SL” and “Platinum” are available. In addition, two types of packages, “SV Premium” and “SL Premium”, will be prepared.
Nissan is in the process of reforming its product lineup in the US market in order to promote the business structural reform “Nissan NEXT.” Announced 10 new models in the last 20 months, including the new 2021 nissan Pathfinder. As a result, we will have a highly competitive model lineup in the North American market.
The exterior has a powerful front face, a stable appearance, a thick blister fender, and a shorter front overhang that expresses strength and performance. As a homage to the first model, it incorporates a design that can be recognized as a Nissan car at a glance, such as a V-motion grille combined with a three-slot grille, C-shaped headlights, and a flowing roofline. The C-pillar is the first Pathfinder to use a two-tone colour to create an SUV-like appearance. The rear part has a square shape design that is reminiscent of the first model.
In the interior, in addition to the 12.3-inch digital display that displays various information, it is also equipped with a 10.8-inch head-up display. Supports the driver’s driving. The side vents and door finisher have an interlocking design for robustness. By adopting an electric shifter, storage space is provided under the bridge-shaped centre console to enhance practicality.
The standard model has a seating capacity of eight, while it is the first Pathfinder to use a captain seat in the second row. By making the removable centre console removable without tools, it supports a variety of uses.
The power unit of the new Pathfinder is equipped with a V-type 6-cylinder 3.5-litre direct-injection engine that produces a maximum output of 284PS and a maximum torque of 259lb-ft in all grades. By combining the transmission with a new 9-speed AT, it is said that a smooth yet powerful and direct response has been achieved. The drive system is set to intelligent 4WD and 2WD (FR) that can select 7 types of drive modes.
As for safety equipment, a total of 10 airbags are standard equipment. All grades are equipped as standard with the “Nissan Safety Shield 360,” which consists of intelligent emergency brakes with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
In addition, intelligent forward collision prediction warning, intelligent driver alert, and rear door alert are also standard equipment. Blindspot intervention, intelligent lane intervention, and traffic sign recognition are also available as options.
