New 2021 Nissan Pathfinder Revealed With Bold New Look

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced on February 4 that it will fully remodel the large SUV “Pathfinder” and start selling it in the North American market as a 2022 model from this summer 2021.

In addition to the characteristic high durability, the new Pathfinder has improved comfort, state-of-the-art connected technology, and safety performance. The lineup includes 2WD and 4WD, and 4 grades of “S”, “SV”, “SL” and “Platinum” are available. In addition, two types of packages, “SV Premium” and “SL Premium”, will be prepared.

The exterior has a powerful front face, a stable appearance, a thick blister fender, and a shorter front overhang that expresses strength and performance. As a homage to the first model, it incorporates a design that can be recognized as a Nissan car at a glance, such as a V-motion grille combined with a three-slot grille, C-shaped headlights, and a flowing roofline. The C-pillar is the first Pathfinder to use a two-tone colour to create an SUV-like appearance. The rear part has a square shape design that is reminiscent of the first model.

In the interior, in addition to the 12.3-inch digital display that displays various information, it is also equipped with a 10.8-inch head-up display. Supports the driver’s driving. The side vents and door finisher have an interlocking design for robustness. By adopting an electric shifter, storage space is provided under the bridge-shaped centre console to enhance practicality.

The standard model has a seating capacity of eight, while it is the first Pathfinder to use a captain seat in the second row. By making the removable centre console removable without tools, it supports a variety of uses.

 The power unit of the new Pathfinder is equipped with a V-type 6-cylinder 3.5-litre direct-injection engine that produces a maximum output of 284PS and a maximum torque of 259lb-ft in all grades. By combining the transmission with a new 9-speed AT, it is said that a smooth yet powerful and direct response has been achieved. The drive system is set to intelligent 4WD and 2WD (FR) that can select 7 types of drive modes.

As for safety equipment, a total of 10 airbags are standard equipment. All grades are equipped as standard with the “Nissan Safety Shield 360,” which consists of intelligent emergency brakes with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
