Nissan recently unveiled the refreshed third-generation Qashqai in Europe, while China still offers the second-generation model as the Qashqai Classic.
The Nissan Qashqai Classic has a simpler design and costs less than its more modern counterpart.The production of both models will continue simultaneously in China, as the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture has introduced an updated version of the second-generation crossover.
2024 Nissan Qashqai Glory
The company has now released the official photos of the revamped second-generation crossover, which was first spotted in June.Notably, the older Chinese Qashqai carries the name “Classic,” while the design team has designated the restyled version with the suffix “Glory.”
The dimensions of the 2024 Nissan Qashqai Glory have seen minor adjustments: it measures 4,407 mm in length (an increase of 6 mm from the previous model), with a width of 1,837 mm and a height of 1,611 mm. The wheelbase is 2,646 mm. In comparison, the current third-generation Qashqai in China is 4,440 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2,665 mm.
The designers have completely redesigned the front of the crossover, adopting a look inspired by the Chinese Nissan Pathfinder Model.The new headlights on the Nissan Qashqai Glory seamlessly blend with the larger radiator grille, which no longer features the chrome V-shaped insert.They have also revamped the bumper.While the rear lights maintain their shape, they now feature a new LED design.
The interior has undergone a significant redesign as well.The new front panel showcases a prominent 12.3-inch widescreen media display that now sits above, unlike the previous model that positioned it lower. The layout includes several touch buttons, and the design team replaced the rectangular ventilation vents with three circular ones in the center. Additionally, the engineers updated both the climate control panel and the central tunnel.Notably, the Qashqai maintains a balance by keeping analog instruments, avoiding a completely digital dashboard.
Powertrain
The restyled second-generation 2024 Nissan Qashqai Glory will feature the same 2.0-liter petrol engine, delivering 151 hp, paired with a CVT. In contrast, the third-generation model in China features a 1.3-liter turbo engine that produces 158 hp, also equipped with a CVT.Both models will have front-wheel drive.
Sales of the Nissan Qashqai Glory are set to begin in mid-October, though pricing details have yet to be revealed.
