Honda unveiled the eleventh generation 2022 Honda Civic sedan. The exterior of the new civic is developed under the new philosophy of the brand, the essence of which is formulated in the company by the phrase “maximum of a person, minimum of a car”. The emphasis is on functionality and simplicity.

The new 2022 Honda Civic 11 has become more angular and added 33 mm in length (now 4674 mm). The wheelbase of the model has grown by almost 36 mm (up to 2736 mm). The car looks very strict and serious. The sedan’s body palette has eight colours, three of which are new: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and Morning Mist Blue Metallic.

The most noticeable element of the interior of the Honda Civic 11 is the mesh insert on the front panel, behind which the ventilation holes are hidden. The LX, Sport and EX trim levels feature a 7.0-inch dashboard screen and a multimedia touchscreen of the same diagonal.

The top variant of the Honda Civic Touring is equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.0-inch multimedia display and a Bose stereo system with 12 speakers. The interior design is stylish and very laconic.

In addition to the difference in equipment, the new Civic 2022 will also differ in motors. In LX and Sport trim levels, the sedan will be offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder 160-horsepower engine. Such a motor is paired with a CVT Automatic Transmission.

The EX and Touring sedans are powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder of the same size. Its output is 180 hp. The box is similar – a CVT Automatic Transmission.

The new Civic sedan will hit the American market this summer. It will be followed by a five-door hatchback.

Crossover Volkswagen ID4 became the first model in the line of “sports” electric vehicles of the brand, which the Germans decided to designate the GTX index. Similar naming is used to denote powerful versions of models. For example, GTI (for gasoline), GTD (for diesel) and GTE (for hybrid).

Such an electric crossover Volkswagen differs from the basic version of VW ID.4 by an original body kit, a suspension lowered by 15 mm and 20-inch rims in low-profile tires.

The new VW crossover was equipped with two motors (one on each axle) with a total capacity of 295 hp, which is 94 hp. more than the base model. Such a decent difference in power allows the all-wheel-drive family electric car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. The GTX’s top speed is electronically limited to 180 km / h, while the base ID.4’s is limited to 160 km / h.

Volkswagen ID4 GTX is equipped with an automatic all-wheel drive: by default, the electric car moves on the rear engine, the front engine is activated during acceleration. The 74 kWh battery provides a range of 480 km.

The Volkswagen ID.4 will be available this year. Electric crossover ID.4 GTX was estimated at 50,000 euros.

Crossovers have already effectively pushed classic minivans out of the market. For example, Toyota Sienna in the best years sold in the United States with a circulation of 160 thousand cars a year, and the result of 2020 is only 43 thousand copies. But minivan makers are still trying to attract customers with “crossover” tricks. For example, the new generation Kia Carnival is positioned as a cross-van. And the 2022 Toyota Sienna now has a Woodland Adventure Special Edition.

Fortunately, there were no lurid black linings on the sills and wheel arches. Instead, the minivan has gained a much more useful increase in ground clearance, although its value is not indicated (the base model has a clearance of 160 mm). High-profile 18-inch wheels, roof rack and tow bar are also standard. And 2022 Toyota Sienna Woodland Special Edition has a standard all-wheel drive, which, however, is available for an additional charge for any other version of the model.

The current Sienna is only a hybrid. The front wheels are powered by an aspirated petrol 2.5 (192 hp, 239 Nm) and an electric motor (182 hp, 270 Nm), which give a total of 248 hp. And on the rear axle there is a separate electric motor with a return of 54 hp. and 121 Nm. It connects only when necessary, while the developers assure that the rear wheels can have up to 80% of the total torque of the hybrid system.

Other features of the Woodland version include black bodywork and a special cement body color (also available in black metallic). In the cabin, there are separate “captain’s” second-row seats and black upholstery. And for picnics, a JBL 1200 watt audio system and a 1500 watt household outlet will come in handy.

The Toyota Sienna Woodland Special Edition minivans will hit the US market this fall. Pricing has not yet been announced, but other variants of this model range from $ 34,500 to $ 52,500.

Hyundai’s sports division N has been expanded with a highly anticipated model. The new 2021 Hyundai Kona N will join the existing i20 N, i 30 N and Veloster N. Despite the fact that the new product is representative of the crossover segment, the company says it is still a hot hatch. That is why the Korean car received front-wheel drive, not full. Under the hood of the Hyundai Kona, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine with 280 hp is installed. The motor is paired with an 8-speed “DCT”. The Kona N features N Grin Shift (increases engine power to 290 hp), N Power Shift (increases torque) and N Track Sense Shift (optimizes gear shift times for track riding). Hyundai’s new crossover features an electronic differential, variable exhaust and five driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, N and Custom).

The high-performance Kona differs from the standard version in a reinforced body and underbody. There is a lowered suspension, 19-inch wheels and an exhaust system with two large tailpipes. Visual differences include a unique radiator grille, sports side skirts, a large front splitter, red accents and N badges. The fenders are painted in body colour, making the car visually wider.

The interior equipment of the 2021 Hyundai Kona N includes a sports steering wheel, a head-up display, a digital instrument panel, a multimedia system with a 10-inch display, track maps and a lap timer. Also fitted are alloy pedals and sports seats with N branding.

Accents of blue and red are used as decorative elements. The electronic assistant package includes collision avoidance, intelligent cruise control, lane keep assist, driver monitoring and collision avoidance. The Hyundai Kona N launch date and pricing have yet to be announced.

At the Shanghai Motor Show, the German brand has unveiled an all-new electric vehicle, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB, which will go on sale later this year. The model is notable for being an electric version of the GLB crossover.

At the moment, the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB is the company’s most practical electric car thanks to its 7-seater cabin. The novelty will be offered in several configurations with different power and battery capacity, as well as with a different type of drive – with front or all-wheel drive.

In Europe, the Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4Matic will offer a range of 419 km. At the same time, the manufacturer plans to release a longer-range version. The crossover battery can be recharged from a standard 11 kW device or from a DC station with a capacity of up to 100 kW. The maximum output of the top modification is 288 hp.

The appearance of the new Mercedes crossover is standard for most of the manufacturer’s models. In place of the familiar radiator grill, there is a stylized cap. The daytime running lights and LED headlights are connected by a continuous light strip. The electric car has got exclusive 20-inch wheels in blue or rose-gold colour. An LED strip is stretched across the entire width of the rear. The place for the license plate “moved” to the bumper.

The wheelbase of the new Mercedes EQB is identical to that of the GLB crossover and is 2829 mm. At the same time, the manufacturer claims that there is more than enough space in the cabin. People up to 1.65 m tall will be able to comfortably sit in the third-row seats.

The interior has the same dashboard as the GLB. The differences are minimal, they mainly relate to the finish. Depending on the modification, the colour of the decorative elements on the air vents, seats and key fob will change. Standard equipment is the MBUX EQB infotainment system with navigation and voice assistant.

Information on the trim levels and prices of the new electric crossover will appear by the end of 2021.

Toyota bZ4X is an all-wheel-drive electric crossover developed in collaboration with Subaru. Serial production of the model is planned to begin in mid-2022 in Japan and China.

According to the company, a whole family of electric vehicles will enter the market under the bZ index. Applications have already been filed for trademarks from bZ1X to bZ5X. The letter X denotes a four-wheel drive. According to the company’s plan, Toyota will have 15 electric vehicles by 2025, of which 7 are in the bZ family.

The fourth generation of the 2022 Nissan X-Trail crossover debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show. Outwardly, This car almost completely repeats the American version known as Rogue, which was presented in mid-2020.

The new 2022 Nissan X-Trail is based on the CMF-C / D platform. Compared to its predecessor, it has slightly grown in size and now reaches 4681 mm in length, 1840 mm in width, and 1730 mm in height. The distance between the axles remains the same and is 2706 mm. The ground clearance has also increased – 212 mm against the previous 208. Visual differences between models for different markets are minimal and are reduced to corrected optics and other bumpers.

With the change of generations, the interior of the crossover has radically changed. The equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a multimedia system with a similar screen, a 10.8-inch head-up display, three-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and heated seats. Available options include ProPilot and Active Noise Cancellation. At the same time, the American version got multimedia with a smaller screen and other finishes.

What engine range the global version of the Nissan X-Trail crossover will have is still unknown. The Chinese version is equipped with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine with 204 hp output and 300 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a variator and a front or all-wheel-drive system. Later, there will be a modification with a hybrid power plant E-Power, in which the wheels are driven by an electric motor, and the internal combustion engine operates in generator mode. In the US, the Nissan Rogue comes with a 2.5-litre 184 hp engine.

The new car will be released on the Chinese market in the middle of this year. The crossover will go to European dealers only in the summer of 2022.

Volkswagen intends to become the leader in the electric vehicle segment and is confidently moving towards its goal. The manufacturer has already launched the VW ID.3 hatchback and will soon be joined by the ID.4 compact crossover. Now the largest representative of the EV line has been presented – the 2021 Volkswagen ID.6 electric crossover with a three-row interior.

The new Volkswagen is based on the already well-known modular MEB platform. Not only representatives of the ID family are based on it, but also models of other brands, for example, Skoda Enyaq iV, Audi Q4 E-Tron and Q4 Sportback E-Tron. The new VW electric vehicle is 4891 mm long, 1852 mm wide, 1679 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2665 mm.

The most interesting feature of VW ID.6 is that the car is presented in two versions at once – ID.6 X and ID.6 Crozz, which differ slightly in design. The differences are minimal, but noticeable: different headlights, bumpers and decorative trim, including small elements in the interior.

Moreover, these versions will be produced at different factories. ID.6 Crozz is at the FAW-VW joint venture in the north of China, and ID.6 X is at the SAIC-VW JV in the south of the country.

Volkswagen ID.6 in its design will overlap with the younger models. The equipment will include a digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a 12-inch screen and voice control. A head-up display is available for a surcharge. System update – wireless. It is also worth noting the presence of a panoramic roof, which makes the interior very bright. The cab configuration can be either six or seven.

2021 Volkswagen ID 6 Powertrain

The new VW ID.6 will be offered with multiple powertrains. The base model will receive a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle with 177 hp. They will also offer a more powerful version of this unit with a return of 201 hp. A twin-engine version with 302 hp is also expected and 310 Nm, which allows 0-100 in 6.6 s. The maximum speed will be limited to 160 km / h. The ID.6 will be offered with 58 and 77 kWh batteries, which will provide a range of 436 and 588 km, respectively.

The main market for Volkswagen’s electric crossover will be China. Cars will go on sale by the end of 2021. Prices will be announced closer to the start of sales.

Hyundai still decided to enter the American pickup segment, although the probing of this market began back in 2015. However, the Koreans prudently did not engage in a fight with traditional manufacturers of full-size and even mid-size pickups. Instead, they released the Sport-Adventure Vehicle, a compact pickup truck based on the new generation Hyundai Tucson crossover.

The new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck features a self-supporting body structure, a transverse engine layout and an uncontested four-door, two-row cab configuration. However, it is noticeably more compact structurally similar to the Honda Ridgeline (5334 mm in length), not to mention the frame pickups Toyota Tacoma (5390 mm) or Chevrolet Colorado (5403 mm). The length of the Santa Cruz is 4971 mm, the width is 1905 mm, and the height is 1694 mm. That is, such a pickup simply has no direct competitors in the US market.

You should not count on serious cargo capabilities, because the crossover chassis does not have the most powerful spring multi-link at the rear. And the length of the cargo platform is only 1323 mm, that is, even a regular bicycle cannot fit in it: an additional mount is provided for its transportation, which allows one wheel to hang behind the tailgate. But, like Honda, a separate trunk with a sealed lid is organized in the rear overhang of the body.

The front half of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck body is almost the same as that of the Hyundai Tucson crossover. The design of the front end is similar to the running lights built into the radiator grille, however, the grille itself and the bumper with headlights are still different. And the wheel arches have the correct round shape instead of the “rectangular” in the crossover. The wheelbase has been stretched from 2755 to 3005 mm. There are wheels with a diameter of 18 or 20 inches to choose from.

The interior of the two models is almost the same. The most obvious difference between a pickup truck is a classic automatic lever instead of push-button remote control. Instead of the usual devices – a 10.25-inch screen without a visor. The centre console is devoid of physical keys: under the large touchscreen of the media system (the same 10.25 inches), only the climate control sensor unit is located.

The rear row of the pickup is still closer than that of the crossover, but a plastic “trough” for small belongings is mounted under its pillow. Among the options, Santa Cruz has a “leather” interior, electric drive and ventilation of the front seats, a sunroof, a remote engine start system, all-round cameras and adaptive cruise control. The automatic braking system is “in the base”.

There are two four-cylinder engines to choose from. The basic aspirated 2.5 GDI (193 hp) is the same as that of the American Tucson, and is aggregated with a classic eight-speed “automatic”. The expensive versions have a 2.5 T-GDI turbo engine with a capacity of about 280 hp, which is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All pickups have HTRAC all-wheel drive with a rear axle clutch.

Production of Hyundai Santa Cruz pickups will begin this summer at the company’s plant in the US state of Alabama, where they make the Santa Fe and Tucson crossovers, as well as the Sonata and Elantra sedans.

Skoda has presented a substantially updated crossover Kodiaq, which the Czech brand has been selling for five years – since 2016. The car, as part of the restyling, received a changed appearance, a set of modern electronic systems, as well as a more powerful engine on the sports version.

The new 2021 Skoda kodiaq facelift crossover can be distinguished from its predecessor primarily thanks to narrower headlights with separate LED modules, LED taillights with complex graphics, as well as a modified hexagonal grille and an expanded air intake. In addition, the Skoda Kodiaq received more embossed sidewalls and wheel rims of a different design.

As for the interior, it has not undergone significant changes. At the same time, a new two-spoke steering wheel and new decorative inserts appeared in the cabin. The seats are available in fabric, combination or leather upholstery, or eco-friendly upholstery made from recycled materials. The front seats, depending on the configuration, provide heating, ventilation and a massage function.

Plus, a customizable virtual instrument cluster with four or five (for RS and Sportline versions) interface options became available for the model. The Enhanced Infotainment System offers 8-inch and 9.2-inch touchscreen options. Finally, the car will be offered with a Canton audio system, the number of speakers of which has increased from 8 to 10.

The engine range of the updated 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift includes a 1.5-litre gasoline “turbo-four” and a 2.0-litre 190-horsepower supercharged unit. The diesel line is represented by 2.0-litre engines with 150 and 200 horsepower. The basic gasoline engine can work with both a manual transmission and a seven-speed “Automatic Transmission”. All other engines are paired only with an Automatic Transmission. The crossover is available with both front and all-wheel drive.

The sports version of the RS has undergone a significant change – it was left without a 240-horsepower 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is being phased out due to new standards on the amount of harmful emissions in Europe. It was replaced by a 2.0-litre petrol unit with 245 hp, which is already installed on the new Octavia RS. The dynamic characteristics of such a car have not yet been named. For example, the former diesel Kodiaq RS is capable of gaining the first “hundred” in 7 seconds, and its maximum speed is 219 km / h.

European sales of the updated Skoda Kodiaq should begin in the summer.
