MG 4 2026 – Launched in 2022, the MG 4 hatchback marked one of the brand’s first global electric vehicles, specifically tailored for the European market. The strategy paid off—last year alone, MG sold around 12,000 units in Germany and nearly 16,000 in the UK.

However, the model didn’t find similar success in its home market of China, with just 7,752 units sold in 2024. In response, parent company SAIC quickly moved to develop a new version of the MG 4 2026 —streamlined and more affordable—to better meet local demand.

MG 4 2026
The new MG 4 2026 has grown noticeably in size, with dimensions now measuring 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height. The wheelbase has also been extended from 2,705 mm to 2,750 mm, offering more interior space. At the same time, the wheels, on the contrary, have become smaller: 16 or 17 inches, while the current model offers shoes with a diameter of 17 or 18 inches.

The new MG 4 2026 is based on the SAIC E3 modular platform. Its lithium-iron-phosphate battery features a unified cell structure housed in a single enclosure, rather than being divided into separate modules. The suspension setup includes a MacPherson strut system at the front and a semi-independent rear axle with a torsion beam.

The new MG 4 2026 has seen a radical redesign, shifting from sharp edges to a more fluid and streamlined look. The front end features a prominent “nose” flanked by curved headlights, while the rear is distinguished by arrow-shaped patterns within the taillights and a spoiler that extends over the rear window, adding a sporty touch.

Inside, the new MG 4 features a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a compact digital instrument cluster, and a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Practicality is also a highlight, with a 471-liter trunk and an additional 98-liter storage compartment beneath the floor. The equipment list includes 360-degree cameras, a remote-controlled parking autopilot, and comfort features like heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Unlike the previous MG 4, which offered rear- or all-wheel drive, the new model features a front-mounted electric motor producing 163 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between two lithium-iron-phosphate battery options: 42.8 kWh or 54 kWh. the CLTC range is 437 km, and in the second – 530 km. Additionally, MG has announced plans to introduce a high-end variant equipped with a semi-solid-state battery, expected to deliver significantly improved range and better performance in cold weather conditions.

Chinese customers can already place orders for the new MG 4 equipped with a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. Notably, the updated model is significantly more affordable than its predecessor, with prices ranging from 74,000 to 106,000 yuan.
