Good news, Honda fans—the Prelude is back! The 2026 model is on its way and set to be revealed later this year.

Debuting as a concept at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, the sixth-generation Honda Prelude 2026 is officially transitioning into a full production model.

The official launch is set for Japan in September 2025, with rollouts in the American and European markets expected the following year.

The car will measure 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,300 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,575 mm—making it larger than the Mazda MX-5 Miata and comparable in size to rivals like the Toyota GR 86 and Subaru BRZ.

Maintaining a refined and athletic appearance, the Honda Prelude 2026 features sleek body lines complemented by LED lighting at both the front and rear. Its aerodynamic profile is improved by flush door handles, which also follow current trends in vehicle design.

Equipped with 19-inch black alloy wheels, the Honda Prelude 2026 exhibits a bold and dynamic presence. This is further accentuated by blue brake calipers and a black rear wing, both of which contribute to its athletic styling.

The Prelude’s interior leans heavily into a sporty aesthetic, yet its overall layout and design cues show clear influences from both the Honda Civic and Acura Integra, blending familiarity with performance-focused styling.

With only a few minor changes, the Prelude’s interior appearance is very similar to that of the present Honda Civic. The center console has been upgraded with a new transmission control and a S+ Shift button that initiates a simulated manual shifting mode, while the front panel has been tastefully altered.

Performance is a priority for the new Prelude, which borrows key components from the Civic Type R despite its hybrid setup. These include:

Dual-Axis Strut Front Suspension – Designed to deliver sharp, precise handling while minimizing torque steer during hard acceleration.

Brembo Brakes – High-performance braking for confident, responsive stopping power.

The Prelude is anticipated to be powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine combined with two electric motors, similar to the Civic e:HEV’s setup, delivering 200 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. To fit the sporty style of the Prelude, many anticipate Honda will adjust the hybrid system for a higher output.

One potential disappointment for driving purists: the new Prelude will not offer a manual transmission. Instead, it will come equipped with an automatic gearbox and feature an S+ Shift mode with paddle shifters, allowing drivers to take manual control of gear changes for a more engaging experience behind the wheel.
