Xiaomi has introduced its second electric vehicle, the 2025 Xiaomi YU7, a high-performance electric SUV, and has submitted a sales license application in China. The launch coincided with a filing to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which disclosed official images and specifications of the production model.
A year after Xiaomi unveiled its first electric car, the SU7, which launched in May, the Chinese electronics giant has seen impressive sales figures. In October alone, 20,726 units were sold, and the total for 2024 is expected to surpass 130,000 units. Now, the company has revealed its second model, which, in line with market trends, is a crossover.
2025 Xiaomi YU7 Dimension
The new 2025 Xiaomi YU7 measures 4,999 mm in overall length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It comes with standard wheel options of 19-, 20-, or 21-inch sizes.
The design and size of the Xiaomi YU7 and SU7 are notably similar. However, the newly launched YU7 exhibits a more distinct SUV character, with a slightly higher height and a more muscular stance, giving it a stronger, more rugged presence compared to the sedan-like SU7.
The Ferrari design influence remains evident in the Xiaomi YU7, as was hinted by the test version of the car. Features such as the prominent wheel arches, muscular sides, and the rear design with a tail extending to the back, as well as the upper window interface, all echo the design language of the Ferrari Purosangue SUV.
At the front, the LED headlights are reminiscent of those found on the McLaren 750S, while the rear of the vehicle showcases wide LED taillights and a ducktail spoiler, drawing inspiration from Aston Martin’s design style.
The interior details of the Xiaomi YU7 have not yet been fully revealed, but it is expected to closely resemble the SU7. Anticipated features include a 16.1-inch central touchscreen, two rear entertainment screens, and a minimalist design. Additionally, a ceiling-mounted LIDAR sensor suggests that the YU7 will offer advanced self-driving capabilities, promising a high-tech driving experience.
Powertrain
The Xiaomi YU7 currently features a dual-motor powertrain, with a 220 kW front electric motor and a 288 kW rear motor, delivering a combined total of 508 kW . The battery capacity, supplied by CATL, has not yet been disclosed. The vehicle boasts a maximum speed of 253 km/h and a curb weight of 2,405 kg. Additional technical details have not been revealed. For context, the top variant of the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, the Ultra version, is equipped with a three-motor powertrain generating a total of 1,548 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds.
The Xiaomi YU7 is expected to be priced between 250,000 and 350,000 yuan, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, which starts at 249,900 yuan in the Chinese market.
