Mazda has introduced its latest offering to the European market: the 2024 Mazda CX-80 crossover. Positioned as the new flagship model, it surpasses the CX-60 in size and boasts three rows of seats, accommodating 6 to 7 passengers depending on the chosen configuration. Engine options for the CX-80 include a PHEV unit based on the Skyactiv-G 2.5 petrol engine and the Skyactiv-D 3.3 diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive system offers Sport, Off-Road, and Towing modes.
Taking its place as the largest model in the European Mazda lineup, the CX-80 shares the Large Product Group platform with the CX-60, featuring rear-wheel drive and a longitudinal engine layout. Adhering to Mazda’s design philosophy, “Kodo – the soul of movement,” the CX-80 embodies minimalism and architectural design principles, evident in its sleek exterior devoid of faux exhaust pipes.

Resembling other premium crossovers, the CX-80 boasts a long hood, high window line, and a wide grille complemented by compact LED headlights. The interior combines spaciousness with elegance, offering versatility with three types of second-row seating options.
Users can choose specifications based on their style, including separate captain’s seats with a console between them, captain’s seats without a console for walk-through access to the third row, or a bench seat for three people. The luggage compartment offers ample space, even with the third-row seats in use, and can be expanded by folding the second and third-row seats. Specific capacity details are yet to be announced.
Powertrain
The Mazda CX-80 features a mild hybrid system based on a 254-horsepower 3.3-liter diesel engine, assisted by a 48-volt starter-generator, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
the CX-80 is available in the e-Skyactiv PHEV version. This version boasts a 2.5-liter engine, coupled with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery. This setup provides an electric range of up to 60 km and a total system power of 327 hp with all-wheel drive options.
Orders for the Mazda CX-80 will begin in May 2024, with deliveries slated for the fall.
