The cross-hatchback Hyundai Ioniq 5 pioneered the use of the modular electric platform E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), and now the first model under the sister brand Kia has been announced And it will be a cross-hatchback too, albeit with a different form factor. The teasers show the Kia EV6 electric car, which will have smooth body lines, a dynamic silhouette and a cunning design of lighting technology. The team of chief designer Karim Habib worked on the appearance of the car.
This car was spotted on trials last summer. The use of the E-GMP platform means that the EV6 will have rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, a long wheelbase, new-generation batteries and a charger that works with voltages up to 800 volts and powers up to 350 kW. But the exact specifications of the EV6 have yet to be announced.
But Kia said that from now on, all-electric vehicles of the brand will have such simple indices. “EV” is an abbreviation for “Electric Vehicle” and the number indicates the position in the table of rank. According to the Plan S strategy, Kia will introduce seven production electric vehicles by 2027, so we don’t have to get confused by their monotonous designations. The official announcement of Kia EV6 is scheduled for March 15th, so wait until the beginning of the week and the whole picture should be clear.
