Mazda has introduced its new electric vehicle, the Mazda 6e, at the Brussels Motor Show, signaling a major leap into the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) era for the brand. With a stylish and modern design paired with advanced technology, the Mazda6e is tailored to meet the needs of the European market while offering the exceptional driving experience Mazda is known for. Set to rival the Tesla Model 3 in Europe, the 2026 Mazda6e is expected to be available for purchase in late 2025. The vehicle boasts a practical liftback design, offering more versatility compared to the traditional tailgate of the Model 3. Pricing details have yet to be revealed.
Mazda 6e EV
The Mazda6e features the following dimensions: a length of 4,921 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,485 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,895 mm.
The Mazda 6e (known as the Changan Mazda EZ6 in the Chinese market) is a mid-size fastback built on the same EPA 1 platform as the Changan Deepal L07. However, Mazda has reimagined both the exterior and interior to reflect its own distinctive style, guided by the concept of “Electrifying Design Crafted to Perfection.” The exterior design blends Mazda’s traditional Kodo Soul of Motion philosophy with the sleek, modern aesthetic expected of a new-generation electric vehicle.
The Mazda 6e’s exterior design includes narrow LED running lights positioned above compact headlight units, frameless doors with folding handles, a continuous strip of taillights, and a retractable spoiler. The model comes equipped with 19-inch wheels as standard.
Inside the Mazda 6e, the layout closely resembles its counterpart, the Changan Deepal L07, with a range of advanced features. These include a 10.2-inch instrument cluster screen behind the steering wheel, an Augmented Reality display system on the front grille, a 14.6-inch touchscreen in the center, and a Stalk Shifter gearshift switch mounted on the steering wheel column. The center console adopts a bridge-type design, with two wireless phone chargers on top, cup holders, and a storage compartment below that includes an electric charging port for various devices.
The cabin is available in two distinct interior styles: Takumi, featuring black synthetic leather, and Takumi Plus, which combines genuine Premium Nappa leather with Suede fabric for a more luxurious feel.
The base Mazda 6e Standard Range is equipped with a 68.8 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, offering a range of 479 km based on the WLTP cycle. Its rear axle electric motor produces 258 hp and 320 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. The Long Range version comes with an 80 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery, providing a range of 552 km. The motor’s power is slightly reduced to 245 hp, though the torque remains unchanged. Due to the increased weight, the acceleration time to 100 km/h is slightly longer, at 7.8 seconds.
Both versions of the Mazda 6e have a top speed electronically limited to 175 km/h and are capable of towing trailers weighing up to 1,500 kg. However, a key difference arises from the varying battery chemistries: the Standard Range model supports DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, while the Long Range version is limited to 95 kW. Another notable discrepancy is in the trunk space. According to the European standard, the trunk volume is listed at 330 liters, whereas the Chinese specification for the electric model reports a much larger capacity of 578 liters.
