Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new generation 2021 C-Class sedan and station wagon (W206). The model turned out to be larger than its predecessor, and also acquired a number of modern electronic systems.
The length of the sedan was 4751 mm, which is 65 mm more compared to the previous generation car, and the size of the wheelbase has increased by 25 mm to 2840 mm. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has a completely new four-link front suspension and a multi-link at the rear.
As for the 2021 Mercedes Benz c-class exterior, the new compact sedan has a raised bonnet and the shape of the head optics in common with the flagship S-Class. The Mercedes C-Class will be available with LED headlights with new Digital Light technology. Each headlamp contains 1.3 million reflective elements and holographic lenses that rotate at up to 2,000 revolutions per minute. Thanks to this, the system is able not only to illuminate the road but, if necessary, project warning symbols onto it with a light beam.
The 2021 Mercedes Benz c-class interior also bears a resemblance to the flagship S-Class. Thus, the Class sedan and station wagon got the second generation MBUX infotainment complex with a digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 10.25 or 12.3 inches, as well as a central touchscreen display, available in 9.5- and 11.9-inch versions. The number of analogue buttons and physical switches is kept to a minimum. The MBUX system supports a voice control function that is self-learning and recognizes live commands. To activate the system, you must say “Hey Mercedes”.
An infotainment complex with a head-up display and augmented reality is available as an option. The windshield now displays not only instrument readings and information from the on-board computer, but also navigation tips, which in real-time, using graphical indicators and arrows, show the necessary lane for movement, the direction of the exit or the desired turn. In addition, the system “highlights” visible obstacles on the way and road signs, as well as projects other useful information. All the latest updates for MBUX are downloaded automatically from cloud storage.
The engine line-up of the C-Class sedan and station wagon includes four-cylinder petrol turbo engines with a working volume of 1.5 and 2.0 litres, as well as two-litre diesel engines. They all operate in a “mild hybrid” scheme – with a starter-generator that provides an additional 20 hp. and 200 Nm of torque.
The base 1.5-litre petrol engine develops 170 hp, while its more powerful modification produces 204 horsepower. The two-litre engine produces 258 horsepower. As for the two-litre diesel, it is available in two stages of boost: 200 and 265 horsepower. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be offered with both a two-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive system.
Mercedes will begin taking orders for new C-Class sedans and station wagons in Europe at the end of March.
