Citroën has introduced the Basalt coupe-SUV in India, with an introductory starting price of ₹7.99 lakh . This special pricing is available for bookings made by October 31. The Basalt marks the fourth vehicle to emerge from Citroën’s C-Cubed program tailored for India, offering a fresh alternative to conventional midsize SUVs. It will go head-to-head with the Tata Curvv in the market.
The Basalt Coupe SUV is built on the same platform as the C3 and C3 Aircross.
Basalt Coupe SUV Exterior
At the front, the Basalt features V-shaped split LED DRLs and a split grille that mirrors the design of the C3 Aircross. However, the bumper design has been updated to give the Basalt a distinctive appearance.
From the side, the Basalt stands out with its distinctive design, featuring squared-off cladding over the wheel arches, a sharply pinched window line, and a smoothly flowing roofline that blends seamlessly into the high deck of the boot lid. It is equipped with stylish 16-inch alloy wheels, though the pull-type door handles from the C3 Aircross are retained. At the back, the vehicle features wraparound halogen tail lights, a blacked-out bumper, and a silver skid plate.
The Basalt boasts a wheelbase of 2,651 mm and has overall dimensions of 4,252 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,593 mm in height. It provides ample boot space of 470 liters and offers a ground clearance of 180 mm.
The Basalt is offered in five monotone colors and two dual-tone options: Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red. The dual-tone variants include Polar White with a Perla Nera Black roof and Garnet Red with a Perla Nera Black roof.
Interior
The Basalt features a cabin that closely resembles that of the C3 Aircross, accommodating up to five passengers.The interior is elegantly outfitted with light beige leatherette fabric, which is enhanced by a distinctive hexagonal pattern. The rear bench includes a fixed headrest in the center, a three-point seatbelt, and a foldable armrest with cup holders for added convenience.
A standout feature of the Basalt is its adjustable rear seat, which can move up to 87 mm to enhance under-thigh support .
Additional features of the Basalt include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also comes equipped with a wireless phone charger, power windows, push-button start, and steering-mounted audio controls.
Powertrain
The SUV Coupe will be available with two engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 81 BHP and 115 Nm of torque, and a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 108 BHP and 190 Nm of torque. The standard transmission for both engines will be a 5-speed manual, while the turbo-petrol variant will also offer a 6-speed automatic transmission option.
