2022 Volkswagen Jetta, with refreshed looks

The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Jetta sedan debuted almost four years ago. Despite the fact that sales of the popular model are not falling, but rather growing, the company nevertheless decided to carry out a small restyling. He touched on both the basic version and the high-performance GLI.

Thanks to the update, the car has become more attractive. He received a modernized radiator grille with large chrome punks and a new brand logo, redesigned front and rear bumpers with different filling, and wheels with an original design. In the GLI version, red accents are present on the body and the imitation of a massive diffuser at the rear. The exhaust pipes are now larger.

The base sedan will be available in seven colors, including Kings Red Metallic, Oryx White Metallic and Rising Blue Metallic, while the GLI will only be offered in five. The Jetta Sport trim will also appear in the model family, which will replace the R-Line. This version can be distinguished by a tinted radiator grille, black mirror caps, glossy black side windows, dark roof and 17-inch wheels in dark graphite. She is also promised a stiffer suspension.

The interior of the model has also undergone changes. After the upgrade, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster is included as standard (the GLI version has a 10-inch), a new infotainment system with a larger display and a slot for wireless smartphone charging. The front seats are equipped with ventilation and heating functions. The trim is made of durable diamond-patterned fabric. Also available in natural and artificial leather in black-brown shades.

The most significant changes took place under the hood of the base sedan. The manufacturer ditched the 1.4-liter engine. It was replaced by a 1.5-liter TSI engine of the EA211 family from the Taos crossover, which produces 160 hp. power and 249 Nm of torque. It works in tandem with an 8-speed “automatic” or 6-speed “mechanics”. The Jetta GLI retained its 231 hp EA888 2.0-liter engine. and 349 Nm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed “automatic”. The updated sedan will enter the market in the fourth quarter of this year.
