2022 Genesis GV60 Electric Crossover Design Revealed

Starting with large cars with indexes 80 and 90, the Genesis brand is gradually mastering the lower classes and has already shown the first model of the 60 series. This is the Genesis GV60 electric SUV, created on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) modular platform, which has already formed the basis Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 models . So far, only the first images have been published without any characteristics.

“Sixty” develops a new corporate identity of the Genesis brand with two-story optics in the front and rear, but it has its own peculiarities. For example, this is the first model with a large bonnet that extends over the fenders. The doors have retractable handles. And the huge mouth of the grille, albeit not entirely, is still functional: in its lower part there is an air intake for cooling the traction battery.

The Genesis GV60 will be the first Korean car with cameras instead of rear-view mirrors. The images from them are transmitted to screens attached to the doors, although they look as if they were installed in the service after the sale of the car. It is possible that there will be simpler versions with conventional mirrors.

The developers call the interior concept “Beauty of White Space”, that is, “the beauty of empty space.” The E-GMP platform made it possible to make a flat floor, and the absence of a traditional central tunnel is intended to enhance the effect of the spacious interior. The transmission selector hemisphere, the media system washer and the cupholders are located on a separate console that is attached to the armrest. The GV60 has two front-facing screens, dual-zone climate control and leather upholstery.

The use of the E-GMP platform means that the Genesis GV60 will have rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, new-generation batteries and a charger that works with voltages up to 800 volts and powers up to 350 kW. But all the details will be made public only in the fall, and production of the “sixty” will begin in 2022.
