2022 Audi RS3 Debuts With 401-HP Five-Cylinder And Torque Vectoring

Audi continues to renew its lineup. This time the company presented a new generation of the flagship compact 2022 Audi RS3, which includes a sports sedan and a hatchback. The car is made in the same style as the fourth generation S3 but received a more muscular appearance.

The main differences are the darkened front end, which gives the model a more aggressive look, and the enlarged air intakes. The LED graphics of the headlights have changed, and the front fenders have become wider. At the stern, attention is drawn to a massive diffuser and two large oval tailpipes of the exhaust system, which replaced the “four-barrel”. The car rides on 19-inch wheels with dark trim, shod with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires.

The interior of the Audi RS3 2022 looks no less impressive. The equipment includes an RS sports steering wheel with a flat bottom and a red zero mark, trimmed in Alcantara. You can also note the presence of a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a multimedia system with a 10.1-inch screen and a head-up display. Sports seats provide extra lateral support.

Cockpit

Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI engine with 400 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. Audi claims the model takes 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h – 0.3 seconds faster than the previous RS3. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

Another innovation is the use of the RS Torque Rear unit, which replaced the rear differential. The system includes several electronically controlled clutches that transmit 100% of the torque to either of the rear wheels. In addition to the usual driving modes (Comfort, Auto, Dynamic RS Individual and Efficiency), RS Performance is also available, which is ideal for track driving.

The new Audi RS3 features stiffer shock absorbers, lower suspension and increased negative camber (one degree in front and half in the rear). Acceptance of orders will begin in August, and the first deliveries of the sedan and hatchback are scheduled for the fall. The cost of the basic version starts at 60,000 euros.
